Natural Organic vs Art Deco
Both are serif display with a warm accent and hairline rules. One is paper and moss; the other is lacquer and gold.
Short answer: Natural Organic is warm and loose: paper #f5f0e1, Playfair headings over Lato body, 19ch headline, 18px card radii, sections divided by 1px #e0d8c8. Art Deco is cold and exact: #0b0b0b black, gold #c9a227, caps tracked to 0.34em, headline at 0.12em with a 20ch measure.
What actually separates them
The organic page looks drawn rather than set. Radii are generous (18px on cards, 999px on pills), rules are warm rather than grey, and the palette never exceeds four tones — paper, moss, clay, ink. Nothing is centred for the sake of symmetry; the sections simply follow each other.
Art Deco is a system of measurement. Labels sit at 0.34em tracking, the headline at 0.12em, and the gold hairlines at 45% opacity frame each block without closing it. The symmetry is strict and the palette is two values plus one metal — the opposite of the organic page in every decision except the serif.
Decision table
A filled dot marks the side that handles the dimension more convincingly. It is a judgement, not a rule — several rows are genuinely a tie.
| Dimension | Natural / Organic Style | Art Deco Style |
|---|---|---|
| Ground | #f5f0e1 warm paper | #0b0b0b near-black |
| Accent | Moss green and clay | Gold #c9a227 |
| Tracking | 0.18em on labels, −0.01em on the headline | ● 0.34em on labels, 0.12em on the headline |
| Radius | ● 18px cards, 999px pills | 0 — square corners throughout |
| Rules | 1px #e0d8c8 between sections | 1px gold at 45% opacity, doubled on frames |
| Measure | 19ch headline, 50ch standfirst | 20ch headline, 54ch body |
The CSS that changes
These are the declarations that make the difference visible. Everything else — font sizes, spacing, section order — is shared, because both pages use the same markup.

When each one wins
Natural / Organic Style wins when
- The brand is food, farming, craft or wellness, where paper and moss read as honest
- The page has photography of real things, which the palette supports instead of fighting
- You want warmth without ornament — nothing is decorated, everything is just soft
Art Deco Style wins when
- The subject is hospitality, jewellery, cocktails or a launch with a sense of occasion
- The page is a poster more than a document: few words, one strong frame
- You want luxury expressed through spacing and metal rather than through imagery
Steering a model to one or the other
Both prompts will produce a serif and a warm accent, so name the ground and the tracking. For organic: paper #f5f0e1, moss, 18px radii, tracking near zero. For deco: black, gold, radius 0, caps at 0.34em and a headline at 0.12em — that last number is what stops a model from setting Deco in normal tracking and producing a page that just looks like a warm serif site with gold text.
